Thinking about, wishing for...

I've found some garden pics I took this summer.  Have been going thru my June pics and trying to print and scrapbook.... (I'm that far behind, with no hope at this point of catching up!)   But... remembered I took these thinking maybe I'd do a garden post and never got to it.   What better time to think about when we just got 10 inches of snow and it was 1 degree this morning!

In my mind I'm already planning my garden.. what needs to be done, where I'll put everything.   These pics are all from the end of June.  Last year I had Adam build me a 2 small boxes.   I planted herbs in one and lettuce and spinach in the other.   The lettuce box went nuts!   I had tons of lettuce and spinach.  Probably the best luck I've ever had with it.   So I'll do that again this year.

I found out that cilantro comes up very easily from seed and from seeds that are dropped the year before.   The trick is it comes up early and than is done by mid to end summer.  I'd like to try this year and plant some so it's ready along with the tomatoes for salsa.
Ok, so I had a tomato jungle this year!  They did really well and I really think I picked the most tomatoes ever but I planted them way to close together and had a serious jungle to deal with!   Note to self... space a little more this year!

Onions... those are always easy and I still have some onions in the bottom of the fridge in brown paper bags from the garden.   How nice is that?
Zucchini.... again an easy one.   Always plenty of zucchini..... Adam starts begging me by the end of summer to stop putting zucchini in everything I cook : )
My peach trees and my garden problem...they've grown up so much that I can't plant anything much on that side of the garden.   I can't expand in the other direction much either because of a row of bushes.   Since I'm seemingly always running out of room I think will have to start a second garden somewhere.   I did that this year for pumpkins but will probably still need/ want yet more room.   You can also see the unmowed grass between the trees and garden since there's not enough room to mow with the rider.... hmnnn something else I should "fix" this year.

First thing on my garden "to do" list this year is to tear up my pitiful strawberries  (they are straight back in the above pic behind the fence.)    It has needed to be restarted for the past few years and I haven't gotten to it.  I really wanted to get it done at the end of summer this year but it didn't happen.   But... since they have sprawled beyond control I want to replant in some boxes, which Adam will have to make me : )   I hope to do this as early as I can this spring!
There!  That's more than anyone wanted to read about my garden, but now my mind is busy planning!!

Jamie...that was a wonderful springtime break! Seems like my garden gets smaller and smaller each year or else the weeds love to take over. I got some "sweet Georgia tomato" seeds from an RV neighbor while in Stone Mt. last year...think I'll get them started indoors this week!
Love ya,
