Little Aidey at 1 year. We call him Aidey... I started it just for fun, Hunter quickly picked it up and now we all call him Aidey. He was supposed to be AJ and probably still will be, but for now he's still baby Aidey to us.
I snuck back in his room and took some pictures of him sleeping on his birthday. How sweet is that little face!
Time for presents. I took Hunter out to get him something and we ended up with a Handy Manny doll and tools. Hunter insisted that was what Aidan wanted for his birthday... or what Hunter wanted. Hunter was right there trying to help him open and tell him which present to open.
See Aidey's little tongue? It is always out!
We did cupcakes the night of his birthday. He touched the flame... I should have known better because he is always like a moth to the flame with lights, night lites or fires. Bad mommy moment : (
And this is what he thought of his cupcake... completely unimpressed! Tongue out again.
"Look Mom, this is as messy as I'm getting!" He was not into the cupcake at all! I gave him some tastes of the frosting and he made a face like it was way to sweet for him. Hunter on the other hand had no trouble inhaling a cupcake and making a complete mess of himself!
Some things about Aidan at 1 year....
Very good at crawling, standing on his own and can take 3-4 steps on his own. I think right now he prefers to crawl as he has perfected the speed crawl.
Just said "mama" about a week ago! Saying bye-bye, luv you, oh-oh, kitty, trucks, up, blah. Funny thing about him is he will repeat a word once when he try to get him to say something but then you can't get him to do it again, he'll just smile like nope, I said it already. He communicates mostly with a combo ughhhhh-ttthhhhhh noise. He makes a grunting noise and then points and makes a spitting tttthhhhh noise.
He's a biter...watch out if he comes at you with those 4 little teeth! It hurts, trust me!
He throws mini-fits when you take something away from him or he doesn't get what he wants... already!! I find this funny because Hunter never did that this early on but Aidan sure lets us know what he wants! I guess a second child has to learn to speak up!
He does have a quiet and soft way about him, but like I said with the fits he can sure let us know what he wants when he wants to!
He's been a bit of a Mama's boy his first year. Spending a good deal of his 1st year being held by me or crying if mama wasn't holding him. Learned the word "up" and is constantly pulling on my pant leg saying "pu" for up!
We had a party for him yesterday. Here's a preview of his party and the monkey birthday cake I made for him.... because he is my little monkey : )

Happy Birthday little man!
Your cake is so great. It looks professional.
Happy Birthday Aidey!
That is the most hair I've seen on Aidey and the least on Hunter.
Looks like he had a great Birthday. The cake turned out really good! Thanks for the updates. I was wondering if he'd started saying Mama yet.
Wonderful photos Jamie!
It is amazing how quickly our little ones grow up. Enjoy every moment.
I love reading your blog...
