Hunter has a green thumb

This spring I had some old seeds from some birdhouse gourds I had grown years ago on the deck. Hunter got to throwing them off the deck and I didn't really care because they were old and I didn't think they'd do much anyways. Well they were still good and started coming up in our mulch in front of our deck. I let some come up and grow. I didn't think they'd really survive since Hunter plays there a lot and would either trample them or pull them up at some point. Against all odds and despite the fact they were never really planted or watered they seemed to thrive. I pulled up a bunch of them and left a few that were growing by our deck pole. They continued to grow so I put a string up for them to follow up. It has now taken over part of the front of our deck and roof. And there are several new birdhouse gourds growing on it. I never really did anything to help this plant along so I figure Hunter really had the most to do with it.
My future gardener by his prized plant. He likes to look up at the gourds and say "ohhhhh."

Jamie...would you please save a gourd or two for me! There is a long story behind this request, that I will fill you in on later, but I planted our last gourd seeds this spring and none of them came up. Thanks! Give Hunter a hug and kiss from me!
love to all,
